Faerielore and CautionsIn our vocation as faerie seekers, we require practical advice that can help us to shape our devotional lives in faeriecraft. Commonsense guidelines that can be easily remembered are important. So what are the most useful facts to keep in mind when working with faerie? Always, without exception, work with protection. Laziness and complacency when working with faeries can lead to undesirable results. The ideal situation would be to always work with a friend, so that you can both help one another. As realistically this is not always possible, I cannot stress enough the importance of protection and grounding routines after magical work. If you visit Faerie Land in a meditation, in a ritual setting, by way of astral travel or even in a dream in your sleep state, then there are strict rules for humans to adhere to. Never dance or partake of food and drink while there, however tempting it may appear at the time. For all of these activities can lead to possible faerie entrapment. It is a known fact that witches are among the only mortals who may enjoy a certain blurring of the rules. However, I would never advise putting this theory to the test as faerie entrapment is an extremely perilous occurrence and there are serious penalties to pay, which could alter your life forever.
Do not say thank you to faeries, but leave them a small gift instead on your faerie altar. Avoid offending faerie folk, for their feelings are easily hurt. Faeries hate iron. If you feel that you are in genuine danger from malevolent faeries, then carrying a small piece of iron with you and sleeping under your bed will ensure your protection. |
